Lemera Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Lemera is provided by Meroviq. For privacy questions, contact lemera@meroviq.com.
2. Information processed in Lemera
Depending on how you use Lemera, the following may be processed. Meroviq does not collect this information on a Meroviq server unless you email us.
| Category | Examples | Where it stays |
|---|---|---|
| On-device group metadata | Group title, whether you are host or member, member alias, local member id, roster display names, sharing-enabled flags, hotspot SSID/passphrase kept for the active session, and related session identifiers. | On your device in app preferences (SharedPreferences). Not uploaded to a Meroviq server. |
| On-device photo-share metadata | Share status, photo identifiers, eligible recipients, and delivery/backlog metadata. Image bytes are not stored in these preference records. | On your device in app preferences. |
| Photos you capture or receive | JPEG photos taken with the in-app camera, and JPEGs received from other group members over the local network. | Saved to the device Photos/Gallery. After a successful local share, the same asset may be linked into a group-named album without a second JPEG copy. |
| Local LAN photo and control traffic | JPEG bytes sent to other current group members over TCP on the hotspot subnet, plus join, control, and backlog metadata such as member and group identifiers, sharing state, leave/remove/end metadata, photo identifiers, and backlog requests. | Transmitted on the local network to other group members’ devices. Not sent to a Meroviq cloud backend. |
| Host QR contents | Local Wi-Fi SSID and passphrase, host IPv4 address, and join TCP port. | Displayed or scanned on the devices in the group so members can join the local hotspot. Not published to a Meroviq server. |
| Support messages you send | If you use Contact Us, the device mail app may send email to lemera@meroviq.com, including the subject and body you submit. | Processed only if you choose to email us. |
| Install-link sharing | The public Play Store listing URL for Lemera, shared through the system share sheet if you choose Share App. | Shared by you through the operating system share sheet. Meroviq does not receive the share recipients from the app. |
3. Information we do not collect
The current Lemera app does not include a Meroviq user account, Firebase or other cloud backend, advertising, analytics SDK, crash-reporting backend, or in-app purchase / premium entitlement processing. Lemera does not intentionally collect contacts, microphone recordings, health data, government identifiers, or payment card numbers.
On Android 12 and earlier, the operating system may require location permission to start LocalOnlyHotspot. Lemera uses that OS requirement to start a local hotspot. The app is not designed to collect or store your geographic location, and the Nearby Wi-Fi Devices permission is declared as never used for location.
4. Device permissions
Lemera asks the operating system for permissions only as needed for the feature you use:
- Camera — to capture photos and to scan a host QR code.
- Photos / Gallery — to save captured JPEGs and JPEGs received from other members to the general library and, after a successful local share, to link that same asset into a group-named album without a second copy. On older Android versions, a legacy storage permission may be required to insert into MediaStore.
- Nearby Wi-Fi Devices (Android 13+) — to create or join the local group hotspot. Declared as never for location.
- Location (fine) (Android 12 and earlier, limited SDK range) — required by Android to start LocalOnlyHotspot; not used to build a location history.
- Wi-Fi / network state — to start or join the local hotspot and to exchange join, photo, and related control/backlog traffic on that subnet.
- Internet — declared for local LAN TCP photo share, join registration, and related control/backlog traffic on the hotspot subnet, not for uploading photos to a Meroviq server. Opening legal pages or Contact Us uses the device browser or mail app.
You can change permissions in device settings. If you deny camera permission, Lemera cannot capture photos or scan QR codes.
5. How information is used
- to run the local group camera, hotspot, QR join, and LAN photo-share features you request;
- to save photos you capture or receive to Photos/Gallery and link successfully shared photos into a group album on the same device;
- to remember alias, group title, roster, and share metadata on the device across app launches;
- to open these legal pages, Contact Us email, or the Play Store install link when you choose those actions;
- to respond if you email lemera@meroviq.com.
6. Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not send Lemera photos or group metadata to Firebase, Google Cloud app backends, or advertising partners.
If you join a local group, other current members receive the information needed to participate (for example alias, photos you share, and join/control/backlog metadata) over the local network. That sharing is between devices you choose to connect, not a Meroviq cloud transfer.
If you email us, we use the message to respond to your inquiry. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights and safety.
7. International processing
Meroviq does not operate a Lemera cloud database that transfers your photos or group metadata internationally. Local LAN sharing stays on the local network. If you email us, your email provider may process that message according to its own terms.
8. Retention
On-device preferences remain until you clear app data or uninstall Lemera. Photos saved to Photos/Gallery remain until you delete them in the device photo app or another gallery tool. Photos already received by other group members remain on those members’ devices under their control.
If you email us, we keep the correspondence as needed to handle the request and as required by law.
9. Your choices
You can stop new local sharing by leaving or ending the group, turning off sharing for a member where the app provides that control, or uninstalling Lemera. After End Group, new sharing stops, but photos captured before the end time that were eligible and not yet received may still be delivered in a short backlog settlement immediately after the group ends. You can delete photos in Photos/Gallery. Because Lemera has no Meroviq account, there is no cloud account deletion flow in the current app.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of personal information we hold (for example email you sent us). Contact lemera@meroviq.com.
10. Security
Local photo share uses TCP on the hotspot subnet without an additional application-layer encryption protocol in the current implementation. Anyone who can join the local hotspot and group can receive shared photos. Use Lemera only with people you trust on that local network. No method of local transmission or device storage is completely secure.
11. Children
Lemera is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us by email, contact lemera@meroviq.com.
12. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy. The updated version will be posted on this site with a new effective date. If changes are material, we will provide additional notice where required.

Supplemental Notice for Users in the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland
This section supplements the Lemera Privacy Policy and applies to users located in the European Economic Area (“EEA”), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland to the extent required by applicable data protection laws.
Controller
The controller of personal data that Meroviq holds (for example email you send to us) is Meroviq. Contact lemera@meroviq.com.
Photos, aliases, and group metadata processed only on your device or sent by you over a local network to other members are processed under your direction as part of using the app. Meroviq does not operate a Lemera cloud database of that content.
Legal bases
| Processing purpose | Legal basis |

| Responding to email you send to lemera@meroviq.com. | Performance of a contract, legitimate interests, and legal obligations. |
| Compliance and legal claims. | Legal obligations and legitimate interests. |
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection regarding personal data Meroviq holds. You may withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, including by changing device permissions. Contact lemera@meroviq.com.
International transfers
Meroviq does not transfer Lemera photos or group metadata to Firebase or a Meroviq cloud backend. If you email us, your email provider may process the message outside your country under its own terms.
Complaints
You may contact us first at lemera@meroviq.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
